MACON – The Mercer men's soccer team returns home for its second homestand of the season on Thursday evening with a 5:00 p.m. kickoff against UNCW at Betts Stadium.

The two programs have only faced each other five times since 1982. UNCW leads the all-time series, 4-1, and defeated the Bears 1-0 in Wilmington, North Carolina, last season. Thursday's match will be the first time the two squads will meet in Macon, Georgia, since 2001, a meeting Mercer won 4-0.

Mercer earned its first result of the 2026 season with a 1-1 draw at North Florida this past Sunday. Christopher Nezianya found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career on a ninth-minute penalty. Three Seahawks received Preseason All-Coastal Athletic Association nods. Jake Roberts and Trey Smiley join Gyamfi as some of the league's top players to watch, while forward Bryan Miralrio and defender Gavin Carmichael received CAA Preseason Honorable Mentions. UNCW was picked to finish second in league play.
