Martin, Bergjans Earn SoCon Weekly Awards

MACON, Ga. - Aubri Martin and Sammi Bergjans received Defensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week after their phenomenal performances in Mercer's sweeps against The Citadel to open conference play.

Bergjans recorded 11.83 assists per set (71 total assists) on the weekend, including a 39 assist performance on Saturday in the conference opener. She recorded eight digs and five blocks to help the Bears complete the sweep on Friday, and followed it up with a double-double on Saturday in assists and digs, recording 39 assists, 10 digs, three service aces, and one block.

Martin totaled 33 digs (5.5 digs/set) on the weekend, while adding one service ace and one assist. She totaled 18 digs (6 digs/set), a service ace, and an assist in the conference opener on Friday, and followed up that performance on Saturday with 15 digs (5 digs/set).

The Bears will be back in action this weekend in Johnson City, Tennessee as they face the ETSU Buccaneers on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. to begin a three-match road trip.
