Men’s Soccer Prepares For Road Test Against Georgia State

MACON – The Bears continue their four-match stretch away from home by traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, for a battle with in-state rival Georgia State on Wednesday, September 9.

SERIES HISTORY
Since 2008, the two rival programs have duked it out 20 times. The Panthers lead the all-time series 10-6-4. Last season, Mercer blanked Georgia State in a 1-0 win. Junior Casillas scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute.

LAST TIME OUT
Mercer earned its second draw on the year this past Friday at Belmont. Eli Bannister scored his first goal of the year, and third of his collegiate career, on a set piece in the 61st minute delivered by Will Taylor. Henry Hampshaw saved eight of the Bruins' nine shots on goal, including a penalty in the 80th minute. Belmont's lone goal came off a penalty in the 88th minute. Hampshaw was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.

Georgia State enters Wednesday night's test undefeated with a 4-0-1 record and a +7 goal differential. The Panthers average two goals and 14 shots per game. Brandon Graham, Sandro Rabarivony and Kenny Yedmel lead Georgia State with two goals scored apiece.
