Adrian Torok-Orban joined the Mercer Men’s lacrosse program as a graduate assistant in the summer of 2019.
In his first season as an assistant coach (2020), Torok-Orban helped the Bears to a 6-1 start, the best in program history, before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bears were two wins away from tying the program record for wins in a season (8). Mercer's only defeat came at then No.8 North Carolina in the second game of the season. Torok-Orban was instrumental in the development of the Bears' offense, which ranked second nationally in face-off winning percentage (0.683) and fourth in both assists per game (10.00) and scoring margin (+7.57). Torok-Orban mentored the nation's leader in goals per game - Sean Goldsmith - who scored 4.86 goals per contest. Goldsmith also led the SoCon and ranked fourth nationally in assists per game with 6.00.
Torok-Orban a Toronto, Canada native arrived in Macon after serving on the staff at Robert Morris University and as a volunteer assistant at Chatham University. As a staff member at RMU, Torok-Orban helped the team to its second conference championship as well as its second NCAA Tournament berth. While as a volunteer at Chatham, Torok-Orban worked with the offense and helped them rise to 19th in the country in points per game and 11th in the country in assists per game. Torok-Orban also spent time coaching for the Edge Lacrosse Club program from Ontario and the Low and Away Club along with youth organizations Pine Richland and Mt. Lebanon, all in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area.
As a player, Torok-Orban was a four-year starter at Robert Morris University and helped lead the program to its first NEC championship as well as the program’s first NCAA tournament berth in 2018. As a left-handed attackman, Torok-Orban scored 87 goals and tallied 26 assists for 113 points in 61 games. He is currently in the RMU record books for career goals, man-up goals and games started.
Torok-Orban graduated from Robert Morris University in 2018 with a B.S. in business administration with a concentration in management and is currently pursuing his master of education with a concentration on higher education leadership.
