Women's Golf

Lauren Whyte
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Lauren Whyte joined the Mercer women's golf coaching staff on July 18, 2018.
In her first year on Mercer's staff (2018-19), Whyte helped mentor two All-Southern Conference selections, Mary Janiga and Terese Romeo, as well as Carol Pyon, who earned SoCon All-Freshman Team honors. The Bears captured two tournament titles -- the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship and the Brickyard Championship -- and four total top-five finishes in Whyte's first year with the program. Mercer took fourth at the 2019 SoCon Championship.
A native of St. Andrews, Scotland, Whyte played collegiately at the University of Denver for two years following a transfer from Baylor. She was a key part of the Pioneers' run to their 16th and 17th consecutive NCAA Regionals in 2017 and 2018. In her time at Baylor, Whyte helped the Bears to a national runner-up finish as a freshman (2014-15), when she defeated Duke's Lisa Maguire in a six-hole playoff to clinch a national championship berth. She joined Baylor's lineup eight events into her freshman season and remained for the final six events, helping the Bears win the Big 12 Conference title and a NCAA Regional en route to the national runner-up finish.

"I'm excited for Lauren to join our family and bring a wealth of playing experience and knowledge of the game," Drinkard said at the time of her hire. "My goal was to find an assistant coach who could be a voice for the players on the course, and Lauren will do that very effectively. Lauren's experience with the Scottish National Team and deep postseason runs at Baylor and Denver will give her the ability to provide guidance to our golfers in the upcoming season."

Whyte is a former Scottish Girls Under-18 Champion (2012) and represented Scotland in the European Girls Team Championships in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. She finished in the top 10 in 2012 at the European Girls Team Championships and has also represented her native country at the European Young Masters in 2011 and 2012.
