
Mercer Finishes 2014-15 Season with Impressive 37-22 Record

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer University softball team closed out an impressive 2014-15 campaign, taking three out of five games at the Southern Conference Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. The year was capped off with back-to-back championship appearances for the first time in program history.
2014-15 Season in Review
- The Bears finished the season with a 37-22 record, finishing 10-7 in regular season conference play. The 37-22 record post the third best winning percentage in program history, while the Bears' conference tournament second place finish matches the best finish for Mercer since the programs establishment in 1986.
- Kirsten Stevens was named the SoCon Pitcher of the Year after posting a 26-10 record, while leading the conference with 26 wins and 221 strikeouts.
- Mercer placed five players on the All-SoCon Awards list for their performances in 2015. Left handed pitcher Kirsten Stevens and right fielder Taylor Miller were named to the SoCon First-Team, while left fielder Riley Carter and first baseman Caroline Taylor were recognized on the SoCon Second-Team. Center fielder Meghan Rud rounded out the honors as the only Bears' freshman to be named to the SoCon All-Freshmen Team.
- The 2014-15 campaign saw five Mercer single-season records broken. Taylor Miller set both the at bats and hits records with 212 and 83 respectively. Riley Carter set the Bears' RBI record with 61, while freshman Meghan Rud broke the stolen base record with 31. Kirsten Stevens took home the single-season wins total with 26 with three wins in the SoCon Tournament.
- Mercer played very well at Sikes Field, posting a 20-8 record, .714 win percentage, at home. The Bears were equally as good in neutral site games, finishing the season with a 12-5 record, .706 win percentage.
- The Bears say goodbye seniors Riley Carter, Molly Garmany, Rachael Hugghins, Victoria Hugghins, and Kaylynn Sloat in 2015. Mercer will have to replace two full time starters in Carter and Sloat for 2016.
