Mercer Hosts UNCG In Home Finale

MACON, Ga. – The Bears are set to host the final home match of the season on Sunday afternoon as the women's soccer team will face UNCG at 2 p.m. at Bear Field.

Mercer's senior class stepped up on Senior Night as the Bears notched a 3-1 win over VMI on Friday. Haleigh Svede led Mercer with three points off a goal and an assist, while Maddie Clark and Corinne Wooten also scored goals.

UNCG owns a 4-0-1 record against Mercer in the series history. Last season, the Spartans grabbed a 1-0 win in Greensboro, North Carolina.

SCOUTING UNCG
UNCG sits just behind Mercer in the SoCon standings as the Bears are fourth and the Spartans are fifth. UNCG has picked up wins over Furman, Western Carolina and most recently, The Citadel. The Spartans grabbed a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs on Friday afternoon in Charleston, South Carolina.

Melanie Spensiero leads UNCG with five goals and 11 points this season, followed by Diarra Simmons with eight points off three goals and a team-high-tying two assists. Caylin Prillaman and Cienna Rideout have also netted three goals each for the Spartans.

Chloe Buehler has spent most of the season in goal for UNCG, making 83 saves and allowing 19 goals. Buehler has recorded a .814 save percentage and a 1.18 goals-against average, while helping the Spartans' defense to log six shutouts. The redshirt junior leads the conference in total saves

Maddie Clark continues to lead the Bears with 12 goals and 25 points this season. The redshirt senior has scored in four consecutive matches, including the game-winning goal in three of those contests. Clark is tied for first in the conference in total goals, while ranking third in total points.

Logan Culver is second on the team with three goals and six points, while Abbey Reddig and Valeria Bermeo have each netted a goal this season. Caroline Smith has tallied a team-leading three assists, while Emma Chandlee and Jamilah Tejan have each added a pair of assists also.

Cristina Mursuli has spent nearly 1200 minutes in goal this season for the Bears. She has made 58 saves and allowed 20 goals for a .744 save percentage and 1.51 GAA. The senior netminder has also tallied two complete game shutouts in conference play.

In the last four games, Mercer has scored all of its goals after halftime. The Bears have outscored opponents 10-0 in the second half or overtime periods in those four games.
