
Mercer Women Take Ninth at SoCon Championships

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Four Mercer women ranked among the top-50 in the Southern Conference Championships 5K event at Camp Jordan, resulting in a ninth place finish for the Bears.

Nine Mercer women finished the 5K event, led by freshman Anna Grzeszczak who set a personal record of 18 minutes and 37:53 seconds en route to 32nd place individually. Senior Victoria Rogers (18:40.64) placed 36th, freshman Kimmie Whiting (18:57.11) placed 47th and junior Courtney Czerniak (19:02.07) placed 48th to round out the top-50 finishers for Mercer.

Other Mercer finishers included freshman McKaylin Darsey (19:14.66), sophomore Bethanie Bailey (19:37.99), senior Shannon Millikin (19:50.84), senior Brianna Wahy (20:12.43) and freshman Ellen Powell (20:23.40).

Furman took the team SoCon title with an overall time of 1:25:00.55 while Samford, ETSU, Chattanooga and UNCG rounded out the top-five team finishes. Samford's Karisa Nelson took the individual title with a time of 16:22.62. The Bears' total team time of 1:34:32.01 beat out The Citadel for ninth place.
