Mercer’s third tournament of the fall to be held at Firestone North Country Club

AKRON, Ohio – The Mercer men's golf team will play its second straight tournament in Ohio at the Firestone Invitational, hosted by University of Akron at the Firestone Country Club North Course.

Play begins Monday, Oct. 2 with 36 holes of continuous play and will end Tuesday with the final 18 holes of action. Mercer is coming off an off weekend after competing at the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo Sept. 18-19.

Tournament Field
Mercer will open the Firestone Invitational paired with Akron (host) and Cincinnati. The rest of the field includes Bradley, William & Mary, Davidson, Dayton, Furman, George Mason, Illinois State, Ohio, Old Dominion, Richmond, South Carolina-Aiken, Temple, Valparaiso.

Coach Kayden's Take
"The guys had a solid week of practice and last week we were able to get our younger players some more experience at Inverness. This will be huge as we move further into the season. Firestone is one of the most famous golf venues in the sport and we need to be well prepared to take on this task.

"We are to every tournament this year with the mindset to win, but in order to do that we need to focus on the shot in front of us."
