Will Bagrou Claims SoCon Player of the Week Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer Men's Soccer senior forward Will Bagrou has been tabbed as the Southern Conference Player of the Week for matches played between Oct. 9-15, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.

Bagrou had a breakout game on Saturday against Wofford, burying two goals and recording one assist on Senior Day for a point total of five. Bagrou's five points on Saturday marked a season-high single-game point outing for the senior forward. The Georgia native has now tallied 10 goals and 21 points this season, leading the SoCon in both categories.

Bagrou led the Bears to a 1-0-1 record last week, tying ETSU on Tuesday by the final score of 0-0 in Johnson City, Tenn. Mercer then bested Wofford, 4-1, on Senior Day led by Bagrou's five points at Bear Field.

This marks the fourth time in Bagrou's career that he has been recognized as the league's player of the week and second this season. Bagrou joins UNCG's Jon Milligan as the only players in the conference to twice be named SoCon Player of the Week during the 2017 campaign. Bagrou also garnered the recognition on Sept. 12.

Bagrou and the Bears will be back in action tonight at 7 p.m. when they host Furman at Bear Field.
