Bears Host Wofford in SoCon Tournament, Saturday

MACON, Ga. – Mercer (6-8-4, 4-4-2) has been tabbed as the fourth seed in the 2017 Southern Conference Men's Soccer Tournament and will host Wofford (4-14-0, 4-6-0), the SoCon's fifth-seeded team. The opening round of the conference tournament will take place on Saturday at Bear Field at 7 p.m.

The Bears are fresh off a 7-0 victory against VMI yesterday, led by Conner Antley's two goals. The Bears have competed in 11 overtime games this season, with a record of 1-6-4 in extra time. Mercer finished 4-4-2 in conference action and has been led by Will Bagrou with a SoCon-best 11 goals and 25 points.

Mercer is 10-2-1 all-time against the Terriers heading into the tournament tilt. The Bears bested Wofford twice this season, outscoring the Terriers by a combined score of 7-2. Mercer upended the Terriers on Oct. 14, 4-1, at Bear Field in the last meeting between the two squads.

The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the semifinals to take on top-seeded and 2017 regular season SoCon champion, ETSU, on Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m. in Greenville, S.C.
