KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mercer Men's Soccer standout seniors Jeremy Booth and Conner Antley were named Scholar All-South Region student-athletes by the United Soccer Coaches (USC), continuing an impressive streak of postseason honors by the Bears.
Â
Antley was named to the All-South Region First Team, while Booth garnered a spot on the second team. The duo mark the 10th and 11th players during head coach Brad Ruzzo's 10-year tenure to be recognized with USC Scholar All-South Region honors.
Â
Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-Region recognition at the NCAA Division I level must own a 3.30 grade point average, start more than 50 percent of all games with significant contribution and be a junior or above in academic standing.
Â
Antley joins the ranks of the Scholar All-South Region Squad for the first time in his career. Antley finished the season with four goals and 11 points which ranked second on the Bears. The redshirt-senior defender also added three assists to his season total. Antley adds this accomplishment to go along with 2017 All-SoCon Tournament Team, 2017 All-SoCon First Team and 2017 USC All-South Region Third Team honors.
Â
Booth, a redshirt senior and industrial engineering major, guided the Bears to their second consecutive SoCon Tournament title. This is the second consecutive season that Booth has been named a Scholar All-South Region honoree. Booth adds the academic honor to go along with 2017 Southern Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, 2017 All-SoCon Tournament Team and 2017 All-SoCon Second Team.
Â
Mercer now has three players, including Antley and Booth, who earned academic honors this season. JR DeRose won the SoCon Pinnacle Award at the SoCon Tournament, garnering the second consecutive season that the achievement has gone to a Mercer Bear.
