Mercer Hosts High Point on Saturday

MACON, Ga. – The Bears are back at Five Star Stadium this weekend, hosting the High Point Panthers in Mercer's third Southern Conference game of the year.

DOMINATING THE FACEOFF X
The Bears have taken control of the faceoff X this season and currently lead the SoCon and rank 10th nationally with a 57.6 faceoff winning percentage. Kiel Brennan leads the league and ranks 17th nationally at 58.2 percent, while Will Beecham is fourth in the SoCon and 25th nationally at 56.8 percent. Mercer is the only team in the league to have two players in the top 5 in faceoff percentage.

CLOSE CALLS
Five of Mercer's games this season have been decided by three goals or less. The Bears are 3-2 in those games.

SMOOTH CRIMINALS
With 8.13 caused turnovers per game, Mercer ranks second in the SoCon and 14th nationally. The Bears' 15 caused turnovers against Detroit Mercy ranks second in the SoCon this season and Mercer holds two of the top five team performances.

ALL CLEAR
Mercer is 132-156 on clears so far this season, notching an 84.6 clear percentage. The Bears are currently sixth in the SoCon and 49th nationally as six of the league's eight teams rank in the top 50 nationally.

HODOVAL BETWEEN THE PIPES
Bradley Hodoval has spent a majority of the time between the pipes this season. He has made 74 saves and allowed 71 goals for a .510 save percentage and an 10.05 goals-against average. He currently ranks fourth in the league in GAA and save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY
High Point holds a 3-2 advantage in the series and has won the last two meetings. The Bears won, 12-11, the last time the teams met in Macon.

SCOUTING HIGH POINT
High Point has started SoCon play with a 1-1 mark, having defeated VMI but falling to Richmond.

Connor Robinson and Chris Young both lead the Panthers with 10 goals, while Jason Ashwood and Michael LeClair have each notched a team-high 17 points. Both Ashwood and LeClair have scored nine goals and dished out a team-leading eight assists.

Young also leads High Point in faceoff winning percentage and ranks ninth in the league at 35.1 percent. He has won 33 of his 94 attempts and also scooped up 16 ground balls.

Tim Troutner Jr. has been the Panthers' go-to goalie this season. He has made 117 saves and allowed 97 goals for a .547 save percentage and 10.92 GAA. He leads the SoCon and ranks second nationally with 13.00 saves per game, while ranking third in the league in save percentage. He has also grabbed a team-leading 35 ground balls.
