
Mercer Set For Pair of Weekend Matches

MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's tennis will play its final four matches of the regular season over the next week. The Bears are getting started with a pair of home matches this weekend with Chattanooga on Saturday and Charleston Southern on Sunday.

Katia Stavroulaki, who is on a five-match winning streak, is leading the Bears with an 11-3 record in singles play, followed by Katie Sidor with a 11-5 mark, which includes an 11-4 record at flight three. Additionally, Haley Powell is 8-4 for Mercer, Andrea Peteu is 6-2 and Marie Mottet is 7-8. Stavroulaki and Grace Korta lead Mercer in doubles with a 9-6 record at flight one.

Chattanooga is an impressive 12-6 on the year with just six players on the roster. Caroline Hall leads the Mocs with a 12-5 record, which includes a 2-2 mark in SoCon play. Rachele Gazzola is 9-6 on the season and on a four-match winning streak. She also leads the Mocs with her 3-1 record in league action. Samantha Caswell is 10-6 at flight one this year, while Sydney Patton wraps up the winning records with an 11-5 mark. In doubles play, Caswell and Gazzola lead the way with a 10-4 record at flight one.

Charleston Southern is on a 12-match winning streak and has not lost since its season opening match against UNC Wilmington. Kimberly Koerner is a perfect 13-0 this year, which includes a 10-0 mark at flight four. Sophie Cloessner is 10-1 at flight two, while Valeria Koussenkova is 8-0 at flight five. Cloessner and Nicolin Luecke lead the Bucs' doubles pairings with a 9-4 record at flight one.
