Men's Soccer Heads to South Carolina, Monday

MACON, Ga. – Mercer Men's Soccer will travel to Columbia, S.C., tomorrow to take on South Carolina at 7 p.m. The contest will be played at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium.

Tomorrow's contest will be a rematch of the 2016 NCAA Tournament First Round in which the Gamecocks ousted the Bears by the final score of 1-0.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
The Bears enter tomorrow's tilt with a 1-9 all-time record against the Gamecocks. Mercer and South Carolina split the season series last year as the Bears claimed the first meeting by the final score of 3-2 in double overtime on Aug. 30. The Gamecocks evened the season series on Nov. 17, defeating the Bears 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Mercer aims for its first win of the 2017 season after falling at Georgia State on Friday, 2-0 in the season opener.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
South Carolina enters tomorrow's contest with a 1-0-0 record, having defeated USC Upstate in the season opener on Friday by the final score of 2-1. The Gamecocks yielded an early goal in the second minute to the Spartans, but rebounded with two unanswered goals in the 30^th and 65^th minute for the victory. With the win, head coach Mark Berson notched his 495^th career win to rank fourth all-time in NCAA DI. South Carolina returns both its top goal scorer from 2016 in Bjorn Gudjonsson, in addition to senior keeper William Pyle.
