Bears Return To Betts Stadium To Play UNC Greensboro

MACON – After nearly a month on the road, the Mercer men's soccer team returns to Betts Stadium for the first time since August 31, for a Saturday night tilt against UNC Greensboro.

SERIES HISTORY
Since joining the SoCon in 2014, Mercer and UNCG have met 23 times. The all-time series leads in the Spartans' favor, with the Bears going 7-12-4 against their conference foe. UNCG swept the season series in 2025 and eliminated Mercer from the SoCon tournament at Betts Stadium last November.

LAST TIME OUT
Mercer fell to 0-6-2 (0-1-0 SoCon) after dropping its SoCon opener last Saturday at Furman. The Bears lost 1-0 due to a Paladin penalty in the 42nd minute. Henry Hampshaw saved five of Furman's six shots on goal, including four in the second half. Three of Mercer's five shots went on net, but Aaron Salinas kept the Bears off the scoreboard and secured all three points for the Paladins.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG enters Saturday's contest on a two-match win streak and unbeaten in seven of its eight matches. The Spartans' only loss came to then No. 6 South Carolina on Friday, September 11. UNCG beat Liberty, 2-1, in its SoCon opener last Saturday and beat USF, 5-0, last Tuesday. The Spartans' +8 goal differential ranks first in the SoCon, and they also lead the league with a 0.875 GAA and a .788 save percentage.
