Paradise Jam Basketball Tournament Moving From U.S. Virgin Islands

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands.— Mercer's men's basketball team will not be traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands to participate in the 2017 Paradise Jam Basketball Tournament, as extensive damage caused by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria have forced organizers to relocate the tourney to the United States. The new site for the tournament, currently scheduled for Nov. 17-20, is expected to be announced by Sept. 29.

The field for this year's Paradise Jam includes Mercer, Wake Forest, Colorado, Drake, Drexel, Houston, Liberty and Quinnipiac. The event had been held in St. Thomas for 17 consecutive years.

Following its annual Orange and White intra-squad game on Sunday, Nov. 5, the Bears open 2017-18 regular season play Friday, Nov. 10 against Central Florida in Orlando. Mercer's home opener is Sunday, Nov. 12 against Toccoa Falls with tipoff time set for 2 p.m. at Hawkins Arena.
