Women’s Tennis Kicks Off Regular Season at Alabama State Friday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team will begin its 2018 spring season with a trip to Montgomery, Ala. to face Alabama State Friday, Jan. 26, in a match that was rescheduled from Sunday. The match will be held at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center with a start time of 2:30 p.m. (ET).

The Bears, who finished with a 14-9 overall record and a 4-3 conference mark, advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament in which they fell to ETSU. Mercer also tallied a 9-2 record at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

The Lady Hornets enter the season coming off their first conference title since 1999. Alabama State finished last season with a 13-9 overall record, falling to Georgia Tech in the NCAA Regionals.

Following Friday's competition, the Bears will return to Macon for a four-match home-stand beginning with hosting Georgia Southern on Friday, Feb. 2.
