Bears Head to Greenville For Final Road Swing of Season

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer squad will hit the road for their final swing away from Betts Stadium with two road matches this weekend. The Bears will first face Wofford this Friday (Oct. 12) before taking on the Furman Paladins on Sunday (Oct. 14).

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer owns a near perfect record against Wofford, leading the all-time series, 5-1. The Bears defeated Wofford 2-1 at Bear Field last season. Furman leads the all-time series against Mercer, 4-2-1. In their last meeting (9/21/18), the Bears dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to the Paladins.

NOTABLES

Mercer leads the Southern Conference and is fifth in the country in goals scored, netting 36 on the season. Mercer also leads the conference in shots (295) and corner kicks (100).
Mercer is second in the league in total points (97), goals per game (2.4) and assists (25).
Sophomore forward Abigial Zoeller has continued to impress, leading the league in shots (63), is third in total points (24), third in goals (9) and second in assists (6).
Heading into Friday's matchup, freshman forward Kyra Idris is tied for third in the league for total assists, dishing five on the season.
Jordyn Ebert has logged 1133 minutes in goal and recorded 45 saves, a .789 save percentage and a .95 goals against average. Ebert is tied for third in the conference in shutouts (4).
The Bears are first in the conference in total fouls (160) with an average of 10.67 per match.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Wofford enters Friday's matchup most recently falling at UNCG, 6-2 (10/7/18). Wofford has netted 15 goals on the season for an average of 1.07 per outing. Hayley Younginer leads the team in points (9) with four goals on the year, including two game-winners. Maria Mon has seen the majority of action in between the posts this season, logging 882 minutes with a .784 save percentage. The Terriers are led by Eric Lewis who is serving as the interim head coach.

SCOUTING THE PALADINS
Furman enters the weekend going 2-3 in their last five outings. The Paladins have netted 21 goals on the season but have failed to find the back of the net in seven matches this season. Both Erin Houlihan and Caitlyn Reilly lead the team in points (12) with Reilly dishing a team-high eight assists and Houlihan netting five goals. Kellsey Weaver has protected the posts for the Paladins this season, logging 922 minutes while only allowing eight goals, recording a .800 save percentage. The Paladins are led by Andrew Burr who enters his 14^th year with the program.

UP NEXT
Following play this weekend, Mercer will return home for their final homestand of the season, beginning with hosting ETSU next Friday, Oct. 19. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
