Bears Travel to Belmont for Midweek SoCon Clash

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Men's Soccer squad heads north to the Volunteer State to square off with Belmont on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. (ET). The two foes were once ASUN competitors and will now meet on the pitch as Southern Conference opponents as the Bruins joined the SoCon prior to the 2018 season.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
The Bears are 8-6-1 all-time against the Bruins heading into the 16^th showdown in program history. The two squads most recently met on Oct. 30, 2011 with Mercer claiming the 2-1 victory in Nashville, Tenn. Mercer is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings, winning three unanswered matches by the combined score of 9-3. The Bears are 3-4 all-time when playing Belmont in Nashville.

The Bruins are currently 2-8-2 on the season, including 0-1-1 in SoCon play heading into tomorrow's showdown. Belmont most recently fell to No. 13 UNC Wilmington on Saturday by the final score of 5-0. The lone point in conference play came against preseason favorite UNCG on Oct. 6 with a 2-2 draw in Greensboro, N.C. As a team, Belmont has yielded 31 goals to opponents, while only cashing in on 12 of its own. Ares Marlonsson leads the squad in points with 10 (3g, 4a), while Matteo Bennati and Adam Voloder are tied for the most goals on the squad with three.
