Bears Return to Betts Stadium for Showdown with Spartans

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Men's Soccer squad will now turn its attention to a familiar foe in UNCG. The Bears and Spartans will square off at 7 p.m. at Betts Stadium in a rematch of the 2017 Southern Conference Championship title match. Mercer enters the weekend with a 10-2-2 overall record (3-0-0 SoCon), while the Spartans are 5-7-2 (1-1-2 SoCon).

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer is 4-8-1 all-time against UNCG heading into the weekend showdown. The Bears finished 0-2-1 against the Spartans last season, dropping both regular-season contests in overtime. Mercer and UNCG met in the SoCon Tournament title game, concluding with a 1-1 draw. The Bears went on to claim the SoCon Championship after besting the Spartans 3-2 in penalty kicks.

Mercer is currently riding the third-longest active winning streak in the NCAA behind Saint Mary's (14) and LIU Brooklyn (8).

SPARRING WITH THE SPARTANS
UNCG enters the weekend clash with a 5-7-2 overall mark, including 1-1-2 in SoCon action. The Spartans most recently picked up their first SoCon win, defeating VMI on Tuesday by the final score of 4-0. UNCG has drawn even with ETSU (1-1) and Belmont (2-2) earlier in conference play. Despite not having a double-digit point scorer, the Spartans share the wealth with 10 different players accounting for the Spartans' 20 goals.
