Bears Head West to Face Air Force Saturday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team will continue Southern Conference play Saturday, March 24 by visiting the Air Force Falcons. Start time at Falcon Stadium is set for 2 p.m. (ET).

Series History
The Bears will be searching for the first ever win over the Falcons, as Air Force leads the series, 7-0. Last season, Air force beat Mercer, 14-6, in Macon, Ga.

Scouting the Falcons
Air Force enters Saturday's matchup holding a 3-5 overall record and currently riding a two game win streak. The Falcons defeated VMI, 11-6, in their SoCon opener on March 17 in their most recent competition … Air Forces' other two wins came against Detroit Mercy (9-7) and Marist (8-7) … The Falcons are averaging 7.75 goals per game while yielding 10.75 goals per contest … Air Force is averaging 32.4 shots per game.

Bear Bones

Senior midfielder Scott Baird has starred for the Bears on offense this season, leading the squad with 19 points on a team-high 13 goals and assisting on six as well. Baird also leads the team in total shots (60).
Seniors Matt Quinn and Pascal Coombs have also played a key role in the offense with 14 and 12 points on the season. Quinn is second to Baird in goals scored with 11 and also has assisted on three. Coombs has netted 10 goals and assisted on two.
Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Hodoval is 24th in the nation in saves per game (10.13), with a total of 81 on the season.
Freshman defender Matt Hughes is second in the nation in caused turnovers per game, forcing an average of 2.88 per game.
The Bears are ninth in the nation in caused turnover per game as a squad and first in the SoCon.
The trio of Hughes (23), DeHueck (10) and O'Brien (10) are second in the nation in caused turnovers among three teammates combined.

Up Next
Following Saturday's game, the Bears will return home for the first time in over a month to face the Furman Paladins, next Saturday, March 31 at Five Star Stadium beginning at 1 p.m.
