Bears Return to Five Star to Host Furman Saturday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team will continue Southern Conference play Saturday, March 31, as they return to Five Star Stadium for the first time in over a month, to host the Furman Paladins. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Bears lead the all-time series, 3-1. However, the Paladins took last season's matchup in Greenville, S.C., 11-10.
Scouting the Paladins
Furman enters Saturday's matchup riding a two-match winning streak. The Paladins topped Richmond 10-9 (3/17/18) before most recently earning a victory at VMI, 11- 7 (3/24/18). Furman has scored 80 goals on the season for an average of 10 goals per game. The Paladins take 32.4 shots per game, with a 30.9 shot percentage on the year. David Williamson leads the squad with 23 points on the year, scoring a team-high 19 goals and assisting on four as well. The Paladins' William Holcomb (13) and Jarrett Birch (10) have also scored in the double-figures this season. Furman has spread the offense throughout the team with 15 different players scoring this year. Jonah Moore leads the team in assists with 14.

Bear Bones
- Senior midfielder Scott Baird has starred for the Bears on offense this season, leading the squad with 21 points on a team-high 16 goals and assisting on five as well. Baird also leads the team in total shots (68).
- Seniors Matt Quinn and Pascal Coombs have also played a key role in the offense with 17 and 16 points on the season. Quinn is third on the squad in goals scored with 12 and also has assisted on five. Coombs has strung together four straight hat tricks, combining for 12 goals on the season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Hodoval is 23rd in the nation in saves per game (10.33), with a total of 93 on the season.
- Freshman defender Matt Hughes is second in the nation in caused turnovers per game, forcing an average of 3.33 per game.
- The Bears are eighth in the nation in caused turnover per game as a squad and first in the SoCon.
- The trio of Hughes (29), DeHueck (10) and O'Brien (11) are second in the nation in caused turnovers among three teammates combined.
