
Bears Rally Back to 5-2 Triumph Over FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Mercer Bears' men's tennis team rallied back to claim a 5-2 victory over Florida A&M Wednesday afternoon at the Rattler Tennis Center.
The Rattlers struck first, taking the No. 3 doubles court with Illya Skornnyy and Jermaine Le Grand defeating Stathis Tsiranidis and Carver Arant, 6-3. The Bears fought back, winning on court No. 1 and No. 2 to clinch the doubles point. The No. 2 duo of Nicolas Guillon and Ruben Vanoppen downed Luis Alejandro Bares and Lebelo Mosehle, 6-3. Mercer's No. 1 pairing of Sam Philp and Olivier Stuart topped Federico Nani and Noureldin Adam, 6-4.
Florida A&M fought back winning the first two singles courts to grab a 2-1 lead. On court No. 6 Mosehle beat Kurana, 6-2, 6-2. Court No. 5 saw Jermaine Le Grand claim a 6-1, 6-1, contest over Tsiranidis. Mercer rallied back winning the final four singles matches. No. 3 Guardia bested Bares, 6-4, 6-4. No. 2 Guillon trumped Nani, 6-3, 6-3. The Bears' No. 1 Philp clinched the match, taking down Adam, 7-5, 7-5. No. 4 Vanoppen finished the day rallying from a set down to top Skornnyy, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3.
With the win, Mercer improves to 14-6 while FAMU falls to 4-11 on the season.

The Bears will return home for a final home stand of the regular season, beginning by hosting Furman this Saturday, April 14 for Senior Day. Play is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
