Bears Head to Derby City to Face Bellarmine Saturday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team will continue Southern Conference play traveling to Louisville, Kentucky this Saturday, April 14, to face the Bellarmine Knights. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.

Series History
The Knights lead the all-time series, 5-2, with two straight wins over the Bears. Bellarmine took last year's matchup, 12-11, in Macon, Ga. (4/22/17).
Scouting the Knights
Bellarmine enters Saturday's matchup holding a 2-8 overall record and searching for their first Southern Conference win. In their most recent outing on April 7, the Knights dropped a hard-fought, 8-6, decision to Richmond. Bellarmine averages 7.30 goals per game with a total of 73 scored on the year. The squad has tallied 316 shots on the season with 171 coming on goal for a .541 shot percentage. Brian Wall leads the squad in total points, tallying 25 on the year. Wall has netted a team-high 19 goals and assisted on six as well. Morgan Macko is second in total points, recording 20 points on 11 goals and a team-high nine assists. John Hulsman has seen the majority of action in between the pipes this season, holding a 1-5 record with 85 total saves for an average of 9.52 per outing. The Knights are led by Head Coach Kevin Burns who is serving in his seventh season at the helm.
Bear Bones
The Bears will return home for the final home game of the season, hosting Richmond next Saturday, April 21 at Five Star Stadium. Play is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.

- Senior midfielder Scott Baird has starred for the Bears on offense this season, leading the squad with 26 points on a team-high 17 goals and assisting on a team-high nine as well. Baird also leads the team in total shots (80).
- Senior Pascal Coombs has been on fire as of late for Mercer, tallying a team-high 17 goals, recording five hat tricks on the season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Hodoval is 20th in the nation in saves per game (10.45), with a total of 115 on the season.
- Freshman defender Matt Hughes is second in the nation in caused turnovers per game, forcing an average of 2.91 per game.
- The Bears are tenth in the country in caused turnovers per game and second in the SoCon.
- The trio of Hughes (32), O'Brien (14) and DuHueck (12) is second in the nation in caused turnovers among three teammates combined.
