GREENSBORO, N.C. – It comes as no surprise that Caroline Taylor has been named to the 2018 Southern Conference All-Tournament Team as announced following today's tournament title game. Mercer finished 1-2 in the tournament, but received a boost from Taylor who batted .667 in the three games.
Â
Taylor finished 4-for-6 at the dish in three games and was walked five times and was plunked once. The redshirt-senior first baseman finished the tournament with an unbelievable on-base percentage of .833 and a whopping slugging percentage of 2.167. Three of Taylor's hits were long balls as the slugger also accounted for six runs batted in and four runs scored.
Â
Taylor ended the season on a nine-game hitting streak and homered in each of the last five games. Taylor's spurt to end the season allowed the Georgia native to become Mercer's all-time leader in career home runs (47), single-season dingers (16) and career runs batted in (157).
Â
Mercer has now placed at least one player on the SoCon All-Tournament Team since the squad joined the league in 2015.
Â
This is the first SoCon All-Tournament honor for Taylor in her stellar career.
