Mercer will play eight games in two weekends this fall
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Softball squad will compete in eight homes games at Sikes Field during the 2018 fall schedule, as announced by head coach Stephanie DeFeo on Wednesday afternoon. The Bears will take the field four times in back-to-back weekends to complete the fall template.
Â
The first tournament will feature four teams and will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29th and conclude on Sunday, Sept. 30. The tournament will kick off with a neutral-site game between Enterprise and Georgia Military College at noon on Saturday. The Bears will then conclude the evening with back-to-back contests against Enterprise (2:30 p.m.) and GMC at 5 p.m. Mercer will conclude the tournament the very next day with consecutive games against Gordon State beginning at noon.
Â
The second and final tournament of the fall features five teams and will take place Oct. 6-7. Mercer will take the field in the only two games on Saturday, Oct. 6, squaring off with South Georgia State College at noon before taking on Georgia Highlands at 2:30 p.m. The Sunday finale will feature three games, beginning with a neutral-site contest between Anderson and ABAC at noon. Mercer will close out fall play on Sunday with tilts against Anderson (2:30 p.m.) and ABAC (5 p.m.).
Â
All eight exhibitions will be nine-inning contests, compared to the usual seven-inning games that fans are accustomed to watching. The games will be open to the public and free of charge.
