MACON, Ga. – Olivier Stuart is set to play in the 2018 Oracle ITA Masters this weekend (Sept. 20-23) at the Malibu (Calif.) Racquet Club hosted by Pepperdine University. Admission and parking is free to the general public.
Stuart's selection to this prestigious tournament is a first for the Mercer men's program, under the direction of Coach Eric Hayes, who begins his sixth season with the Bears this fall. Stuart, a native of Bussy Saint-Georges, France, compiled a 13-4 singles record in 2018 while playing at the No. 2 position. Teaming up with Sam Philp at the No. 1 doubles position, the duo recorded an 11-7 mark.
The Oracle ITA Masters features the Returning Player of the Year (or other, as determined by the selection criteria) from each Division I athletic conference, with two additional wild card spots. The tournament will consist of a double elimination 32-player men's singles draw, a double elimination women's singles draw, along with a single elimination 32-team mixed doubles draw.
Stuart was picked as the Southern Conference representative based upon his results last season and his Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) ranking. The No. 1 seed at last year's Oracle ITA Masters was Petros Chrysochos from Wake Forest, who went on to win the NCAA Singles Championship.
