Bears Fall 6-1 at Tulsa Tuesday Afternoon

TULSA, Okla. – Mercer's men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at the hands of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Tuesday afternoon.
The Bears fell behind early, as Tulsa claimed the doubles competition to take a 1-0 lead. The No. 3 pairing of Kody Pearson and Daniel Siddall defeated Carver Arant and Jimmy Emslie, 6-2. Tulsa clinched the doubles point with No. 1 Majed Kilani and Jarod Hing topping Olivier Stuart and Nicolas Guillon, 6-1. Mercer claimed court No. 2 as Stathis Tsiranidis and David Georgadze beat Boriss Kamdem and Tom Thelwall-Jones, 6-4.
The Bears' No. 1 seeded Stuart fell behind early and was unable to claw back, falling 6-1, 7-6, to Kilani. On court No. 2, Goodger, 6-0, 6-1, defeated Guillon. Tulsa continued to extend its lead, as No. 6 Hampe topped Arant, 6-2, 6-2. The Golden Hurricane clinched the match with No. 4 Pearson besting Georgadze, 7-5, 7-5. Court No. 3 saw Tsiranidis fall, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, to Kamdem. The Bears picked up their lone point of the afternoon with No. 5 Guardia rallying back in a thrilling three-setter, to claim a 6-7, 7-5, 7-6, victory over Siddall.
Mercer will continue its road swing with a double-header at Arkansas this Wednesday, Jan. 16. The matches are scheduled for 3 and 7 p.m.
