Bears Compete Against Alabama On Saturday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team returns to the state of Alabama this weekend to take on Southeastern Conference power Alabama Saturday, Jan. 26 in Tuscaloosa. Start time for the match is 11 a.m. (ET) at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Indoor Tennis Facility.

About the Bears
Mercer comes into Saturday's match with a 1-4 record. The Bears defeated Alabama A&M Jan. 20 in a match held at Auburn. Mercer has played a tough schedule thus far, having competed against nationally ranked Auburn (twice) and Florida State. Head Coach Eric Hayes is in his seventh season with the Bears.
Scouting the Crimson Tide
Alabama brings a 2-0 record into Saturday's match,having blanked Alabama Birmingham and Belmont 7-0 in season opening action last weekend. The Crimson Tide return seven letter winners from last year's squad that finished 15-15 overall. Head Coach Jenny Mainz is in her 22nd year with the Crimson Tide.

The women's team travels to Statesboro, Ga., to take on Georgia Southern Thursday, Jan. 31. Start time for the match is 1 p.m. (ET).
