Mercer's 2020 slate includes 28 home games and three home tournaments.
MACON, Ga. – Mercer Softball Head Coach Stephanie DeFeo has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2020 season.
                                                                                        Â
The Bears' spring slate is comprised of 28 home games, 16 road games and 12 at neutral sites. Mercer will be hosting three tournaments during the 2020 season.
Â
"We are excited to announce a challenging schedule," commented DeFeo. "Our preseason schedule will prepare us to compete at the highest level once we get into our conference season. We have a few exciting home series with Georgia Tech, Florida State and Auburn. We have a very talented team, and I feel these competitions will prepare us to be ready when we face our Southern Conference Opponents."
Â
The Bears open the season at home with the Mercer Invitational (Feb. 7-9). Mercer then travels to Georgia Southern (Feb. 12) for a single game before heading to Madeira Beach, Fla., for the Madeira Beach Tournament (Feb. 14-17).
Â
Mercer will remain in Florida to play Florida A&M (Feb. 19) before returning home for the Black & Orange Challenge (Feb. 21-23). Mercer closes out its first month of action at the Alabama State Tournament (Feb. 28-March 1).
Â
The Bears return home for a doubleheader with Auburn (March 4) prior to heading back on the road for the Oklahoma State Tournament (March 6-8). Mercer returns to Sikes Field for a matchup against in-state foe Georgia Tech (March 11) before hosting its third and final tournament of the spring with the Mercer Bears Classic (March 13-15).
Â
The Black and Orange will open Southern Conference play on the road with a doubleheader at Western Carolina (March 21) before closing out the series with a single game against the Catamounts (March 22). Mercer then welcomes Florida State (March 25) to Macon, Ga., for a midweek doubleheader ahead of a weekend series with Samford (March 28-29) at home.
Â
The Bears will spend most of the month of April traveling as they only have one home series in the month. They begin with a SoCon matchup at UNCG (April 4-5) and remain in North Carolina to take on N.C. State (April 10-11) for three games the following weekend. Mercer makes a quick stop at home to face Furman (April 18-19) for its lone home games of the month before embarking for Chattanooga (April 25-26).
Â
Mercer closes out its regular season slate at home with a weekend series on Family Weekend against ETSU (May 2-3) before the SoCon Tournament (May 6-9) begins.
