Mercer Unable To Rally Back, Falling 13-9 at Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team couldn't overcome a hot start from Utah, falling 13-9 to the Utes Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
The Bears netted the first goal of match as Pascal Coombs assisted John Tarver for the opener. Mercer was held scoreless the remainder of the first period, with Utah scoring five straight.

Mercer fought back at the start of the second with Michael O'Brien scoring a quick goal (14:43) into the period. Michael Quinn followed with a pair of goals of his own, one assisted by Sean Goldsmith, to cut the Utes' lead to 5-4. The Bears and Utes traded goals for remainder of period, entering the break at, 9-6, Utah.

The Bears attempted to claw back, again starting the third period strong with a pair of goals from Pascal Coombs and Michael O'Brien. Utah's defense proved to be too tough as the Utes prevailed, 14-9.
