Bears win third straight match

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team defeated Cleveland State, 5-2, on Sunday in its first match at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center in over a month.

Cleveland State is the defending Horizon League champion and competed in the NCAA Tournament last season.

Mercer picked up the doubles point with 7-6 and 6-4 wins by Olivier Stuart/Nicolas Guillon and Stathis Tsiranidis/David Georgadze on courts No. 1 and 2. The Bears then opened singles play with three victories from Carver Arant in the No. 5 match, Georgadze in the No. 6 match and Stuart in the No. 1 match. Stathis Tsiranidis also earned a three-set win in the No. 4 match.
