Bears defeat USC Upstate, 4-1, before rain

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Monday, defeating USC Upstate, 4-1, before rainfall brought the contest to a close at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center.

Mercer (7-8) is now one match below .500 after a 3-8 start to the season. The two teams did not play the doubles point due to the expectation of inclement weather in the Middle Georgia area.

Singles wins by Nicolas Guillon, Stathis Tsiranidis, Carver Arant and Sachin Khurana helped Mercer earn the 4-1 victory. Arant's last four singles matches have been won in straight sets. Khurana earned another straight-sets win as well, while Tsiranidis won in three and Guillon won on an injury after claiming the first set, 7-5.

Mercer opens Southern Conference play at Wofford on Saturday, March 16. The match will start at noon in Spartanburg, S.C.
