Bears pick up three singles wins in SoCon-opening match

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mercer men's tennis team was defeated by Wofford, 4-3 in its Southern Conference-opening match at the Reeves Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

Mercer (7-9, 0-1 SoCon) earned singles wins by Olivier Stuart, Nicolas Guillon and David Georgadze in the No. 1, 2 and 6 matches, but dropped the doubles point and a trio of singles matches.

Stuart defeated Wofford's Julian Chousa in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, in the top-seeded match. Guillon batteld back for a three-set win (1-6, 6-1, 6-1) in the second-seeded match after falling behind early. Georgadze earned a straight-sets victory in the sixth-seeded match against Diego Losada.
