
Men's Tennis Earns 6-1 Victory at Jacksonville State Thursday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team downed the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 6-1, Thursday afternoon at the JSU Tennis Complex. Mercer was defeated by Jacksonville State, 4-3, last year.
Mercer jumped to an early lead, as the Bears took a hard-fought doubles competition. On court No. 2, Stathis Tsiranidis and David Georgadze defeated Guillermo Agost and Jordi Blanchar, 6-4. The Gamecocks fought back with their No. 3 pairing of Joaquin Vallejo and Alexander Vishnevskiy defeating Carver Arant and Piyush Salekar, 7-5. Mercer's No. 1 slotted Olivier Stuart and Nico Guillon clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Aljaz Kaplja and Sergio Lizarraga.
The Bears dominated singles action, only dropping one point along the way. No. 2 Guillon first topped Vallejo, 6-4, 6-2. On court No. 1, Mercer's nationally ranked Olivier Stuart downed Kaplja, 6-4, 6-2. The Bears' No. 6 Georgadze clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2, triumph over Blanchar. Court No. 3 saw the Gamecocks earn their sole point of the match as Guardia fell to Agost, 4-6, 6-3, 5-10. The Bears continued to pile on the points with No. 5 Arant's, 6-4, 6-4, triumph over Lizarraga. The afternoon was concluded with the as Tsiranidis defeated Vishnevskiy, 5-7, 7-5, 10-5
