Bears to Host #13 High Point on Saturday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team will welcome No. 13 High Point to Five Star Stadium at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for a Southern Conference match.

The Bears (1-9, 1-3 SoCon) are coming off a road loss at Furman and are seeking their second league win of the season against the nationally-ranked Panthers, who enter the match at 9-2 overall and 3-1 in SoCon play.

Mercer trails, 4-3, in the all-time series with High Point and most recently fell, 13-7, on April 28, 2018. The Bears' most recent win over High Point came in overtime on April 1, 2018 in Macon.

ABOUT THE BEARS

Ashton Wood is the defending SoCon Defensive Player of the Week after recording conference single-match records of 19 ground balls and 29 faceoff wins at Furman last week. Wood has earned the league's weekly defensive honor twice this season and leads the Bears with 61 ground balls and a .600 percentage in the face-off 'X'.
Michael Quinn owns a team-best 17 goals and 24 points.
Pascal Coombs has nine assists to lead the team.
Josh Tarver enters Saturday's match with a .526 save percentage.
Mercer is averaging 10.40 goals per game on an average of 42.10 shots.

SCOUTING HIGH POINT
The nationally-ranked Panthers are riding a two-match win streak heading into Saturday, having most recently defeated Furman on March 30 and Air Force on April 6. High Point earned two early-season wins over No. 2 Duke and No. 9 Virginia to jumpstart its case for a national ranking.

Asher Nolting ranks fourth nationally in points per game (5.82) and was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for a third time after posting three goals and six assists against Air Force last week.
