Bailey Pattison Tabbed SoCon Pitcher of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer freshman Bailey Pattison was tabbed the Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 8-14, the league office announced Monday.

Pattison, a native of Ponte Verde Beach, Fla., shut down Chattanooga in the SoCon series finale – tossing a complete-game, three-hitter to seal the victory for Mercer. The complete game marked her eighth of the season and second in as many starts.

The freshman leads the Bears – and ranks sixth in the conference – with a 3.56 earned run average in 2019, along with being one of three student-athletes in the league to reach double-digit wins on the season. She currently owns a dominant 0.71 ERA and a 3-0 record through three SoCon starts and has tossed 19.2 innings in conference play, allowing just 11 hits.

The honor marks the first of Pattison's young career and comes just a week after fellow teammate Megan Lane took home the conference player of the week award. Pattison will help lead Mercer into a key SoCon matchup at Samford this upcoming weekend.
