Mercer Closes Season with Jacksonville on Senior Day

Bears host final SoCon contest of the season
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team will close out its 2019 season on Saturday by hosting Jacksonville at 3 p.m. at Five Star Stadium. The Bears will recognize their eight seniors – Pascal Coombs, Tyler Boardo, Hank Morgan, Kiel Brennan, Mikey Ewing and Jake Saad before play begins. Â

ABOUT THE BEARS
Mercer is 1-5 in league play heading into Saturday's match. Sean Goldsmith and Michael Quinn lead the Bears' offense. Quinn has garnered 34 points for the Bears while Goldsmith follows closely behind with 33 points. Ashton Wood leads the circle, earning 160 face-off wins this season so far, ranking 16th nationally in face off percentage (.616). Josh Tarver defends the pipes for the Bears, recording 138 saves this season while averaging a .498 save percentage.
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE
The Dolphins enter the weekend 5-8, 4-2 SoCon, having defeated Bellarmine (11-8), No. 10 High Point (12-10), VMI (19-9) and Furman (11-10). Eric Applegate leads the Jacksonville offense as well as ranking third in the league for 1.62 assists per game. Starting goalkeeper Hunter Sells averages a .441 save percentage after tallying 124 saves over 469 shots faced.
