Sophomore duo chosen to 10-member SoCon all-tournament team
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Mercer's Danielle Castleberry and Micayla Rood were named to the All-Southern Conference Tournament team following the Bears impressive run through the losers' bracket, the league office announced late Saturday night.
Â
The two sophomores combined for 11 hits in four games and helped pace Mercer to a third-place finish at the tournament – falling just short of advancing to the SoCon championship game.
Â
Castleberry finished the week 5-for-12 (.417) and drove in seven runs after a rough, 0-for-3 start in the opening round loss. The all-conference first teamer bounced back and sparked the Bears offense with a two-run homer in the win over ETSU.
Â
