Bears Welcome Georgia State, Travels to Jacksonville State

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer squad will take on Georgia Sate this Friday at 7 p.m. in Betts Stadium. Then they will head to Jacksonville, Alabama to battle Jacksonville State Sunday night at 8 p.m. in JSU Soccer Field.

Mercer is 10-13-3 against Georgia State. Mercer took the last meeting 1-0 in 2017. The Bears improved their all-time record against Jacksonville State in the 2018 season taking the match 2-1.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
The Panthers are coming off a scoreless game against UAB on Sunday. Georgia State is led by Ed Joyce, a former assistant coach of the men's soccer team. The Panthers welcome back seven starters, including senior Brooke Shank, who led the team in total shots (48), shots on goal (23), and goals (6). Georgia State ended the 2018 with an 8-10-2 overall, 5-4-1 conference, record.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
The Gamecocks are led by Neil MacDonald who enters his seventh season at the helm. Jacksonville State ended the 2018 season 4-11-3, 2-7-1 in the Ohio Valley. The Gamecocks welcome six new freshman faces and welcomes back senior Emma Meadows. Meadows finished the 2018 season with two goals, five points, and 21 shots.
