Bears return home to face Alabama A&M on Saturday

STATESBORO, Ga. – In a match that was nearly four hours, and saw two matches go to three sets, the Mercer men's tennis team was defeated by the Eagles of Georgia Southern, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon.

For only the second time this season, Mercer opened the match by claiming the doubles point. Claiming the first win was Olivier Stuart and Hugo Lobo, who defeated the No. 47 ranked team, 6-3. David Georgadze and Stathis Tsiranidis won 6-3 in the No. 2 flight.

In singles action, the No. 46 ranked player, Stuart was the only Bear to pick up a win. Stuart defeated Murphy McCullough, 6-3, 6-1.

Hugo Lobo dropped his first set in singles but rebounded in set two, 6-4, forcing a third set. In a competitive third set, Diego Finkelstien came away with a 6-4 win. Like Lobo, Lucas Wayenburg went to a third set. He dropped set one, 3-6, but won 6-4. In the third set, Wayenburg battled before falling 7-6.

David Georgadze battled in No. 5 singles for the Bears but dropped his match, 7-6, 7-6, to Jonathan Morales.
