
Bears Dominate the Field in 28-6 Home Win

Mercer remains perfect at home
MACON, Ga. – Mercer men's lacrosse team beat Hampton Pirates in Saturday afternoon's matchup. The Bears set a new program record with 28 goals scored in a single game.
The Bears came out hot, finding the back of the net eight times in the first quarter. Sean Goldsmith opened up the scoring for the Bears a minute into the game. From there, four more Bears would follow with goals. Will McCarthy would score twice, while Patrick Marks, Michael Qiunn, Jake Priester would score one. Goldsmith would close out the first quarter with three goals. The Pirates would get on the board in the second quarter with two goals. The Bears hot offense added 10 more goals from eight guys. Mercer would lead at the half 18-2.
Freshman Collin Stewart would register his first goal at the 9:36 mark of the third quarter with an assist from Quinn. Stewarts goal would start a 7-0 run that would end in fourth quarter. John Michael McCormick and Carl Klepper led the run with two goals apiece. John Tarver and Jack McGuire would record a goal each. Luke Saad, Parker Junod, and Logan Bradford would wrap up the Bears scoring to end the game 28-6.
NOTABLES
· The Bears had 16 players score a goal in the game. They were led by Sean Goldsmith with five, followed by John Michael McCormick with four.
· Mercer registered 58 shots, 41 shots on goal, and 28 goals.
· Sean Goldsmith's five goals in the game brings his season total up to 14. He is averaging 4.50 goals per game which leads the Southern Conference.
NEXT UP
Mercer will welcome the Wagner Eagles to Five Star Stadium on Feb. 29. The game is set for 11 a.m.
