Bears go head to head against Hawks for first time
MACON, Ga. – Mercer men's lacrosse heads to New Jersey for a Saturday afternoon matchup against Monmouth. The game is set for noon. Mercer will then take on Cleveland State for a neutral site game in Towson, MD. on Monday at 3 p.m.Â

SERIES HISTORY
This is the first meeting between the Bears and the Hawks. Mercer and Cleveland State have split the overall series 1-1. The Vikings took the last matchup 12-8.

ABOUT THE BEARS
Sean Goldsmith scored seven goals in the game against St. Bonaventure. That's the second time he tied the Mercer and Southern Conference single game record. Prior to the game, he was honored as the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month for the month of February. Goldsmith also ranks first in the nation for goals per game with an average of 5.60 per game. Ashton Wood ranks second nationally in face-off winning percentage. He has registered a .757 winning percentage. Mercer is ranked second in the nation in three categories; assists per game (11.00), face-off winning percentage (.736), and scoring margin (9.40).
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
Monmouth enters the game with a 2-3 record on the season. Their two losses come from Princeton and Delaware. Junior Brock Anderson leads the team with seven goals on the season. He is followed by Eamon Campbell, Mike McIntyre, and David Cormack with five goals. The Hawks have five players with double-digit groundballs. Dillon Smart leads the team with 19, followed by Scooter Whiteside (17), Matt Soutar (16), Chris Hervada (11), and Jack Gertie (11). Brian Fischer enters his seventh season at the helm with the Hawks. In his tenure, he has registered a 40-51 record.
SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
Cleveland State enters the contest wth a 2-4 overall record on the season. They are coming off a 9-8 win against Bellarmine on Friday. Tristan Hanna leads Cleveland State with a 14 goals on the season. He is followed by Stephen Masi with nine. Danny Tesler is the Vikings go to face-off guy, winning 76-127 face-offs. He also leads the team with 40 groundballs so far. Andy German is in his first year at the helm with the Vikings. He has an overall record of 2-4. Â

Mercer will head to Jacksonville to take on the Dolphins on March 14 to open SoCon play. The game is set for 12 p.m..
