About Kate
Kate has been a member of the softball team for four years, appearing in 86 games for the Bears. A selfless player, Buckland served the team in whatever role was required of her in order to help the team win. Being primarily used as a pinch runner, the Okemos, Mich., native scored 23 runs throughout her career and stole six bases. The lone start in her career came on March 9, 2019, against Michigan State when she threw out Katie Quinlan in the sixth inning.
Buckland excelled off the diamond as well, being named to the Academic All-Southern Conference Team in 2018.

Coach's Thoughts
"Kate was one of the hardest working athletes I have ever coached," remarked head coach Stephanie DeFeo. "She was willing to play any position at any time we needed her. She was a very selfless player. One of the biggest highlights was during her junior year, she started behind the plate against Michigan State. She threw out one of the fastest runners in the nation."
