MACON, Ga. – Former Mercer star Langston Hall, who led Mercer to a stunning defeat of third-seeded Duke in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, is set to continue his professional journey, which began in the summer of 2014.
Hall, an Atlanta native, signed with KK Crvena zvezda in July and recently arrived in Serbia to begin preparations for the season. The club recently announced the arrival of the former Mercer guard on its official Twitter account.
Upon arrival, Hall had to undergo mandatory tests before being cleared to participate in team activities. He passed all the required tests and will join the team at its next practice.Â
Hall played the previous three seasons with ASP Promitheas Patras in Greece and helped the squad advance to the Eurocup finals.
In 13 games in the Greece A-1 league, Hall averaged 9.5 points and 6.2 assists. He shot an impressive 43.5 percent from the floor and scored in double figures four times. He poured in 23 points, a season-high, in an 87-76 defeat of Panionios in November.
Hall's scoring output increased in the Eurocup as he was held under double digits in just three of the team's 13 contests. The dynamic guard epitomized what it means to be a floor general in a narrow 70-67 win over Ratiopharm when he scored 16 points and dished out 11 assists. In the Eurocup, he contributed 11.4 points and 5.7 assists per contest. Hall shot a scorching 55.4 percent from the floor and connected on 40 percent of his attempts from three-point territory.
He began his professional journey with the Miami Heat in the 2014 NBA Summer League. After three games with the Heat, Hall played with the Orlando Magic before signing with Giorgio Tesi Group Pistoia in Italy's top series. In his lone season in Italy, he played in 28 games and averaged 7.5 points per game.
Hall's breakout professional season came in 2016-17 when he averaged 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game with the Kolossos H Hotels in the premier league in Greece.
He once again averaged double figures this season during his time in the Eurocup last season.
Hall, an ASUN All-Decade honoree and the eighth all-time leading scorer in Mercer basketball history, had a stellar four-year career in Macon, which he capped off with All-ASUN Player of the Year and Tournament MVP honors. He led the Bears over No. 3 seed Duke, 78-71, in the NCAA Tournament.
Hall competed in the 2014 Reese's Division I College All-Star game at the Final Four. He earned a starting spot from Mark Turgeon, the east squad's head coach who currently leads the Maryland Terrapins, and dished out a game-high six assists.
On the national level, the 6-foot-4 guard received the Lou Henson award after his senior season, which is given annually to the nation's top NCAA Division I mid-major men's basketball player. Hall beat out 29 other finalists to win the award. The Associated Press named him to the All-America honorable mention team.
As a junior, Hall picked up All-ASUN Second Team honors and was named to the All-Tournament Team. CollegeInsider.com declared the high-scoring guard as the ASUN MVP.
At the end of his sophomore campaign he earned first-team all-conference recognition and NABC All-District Second Team honors. As a freshman, Hall earned a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
Hall helped Mercer achieve a 93-50 record in four years. During his tenure, the Bears won the CIT Championship (2012), made the National Invitational Tournament (2013) and defeated Duke in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
He left Mercer as the program's all-time leader in three-pointers made (256), assists (633) and steals (177) leader. His 633 dimes rank him second all-time in ASUN history. In July, he was named to the ASUN All-Decade Team.Â
