Madruga, Rosentreter Honored on ASUN All-Decade Team

Jamie Madruga was a three-time All-ASUN performer, while Katie Rosentreter earned two first team nods and was the 2006 ASUN Pitcher of the Year
ATLANTA – Former Mercer softball players Jamie Madruga and Katie Rosentreter were named to the ASUN Conference All-Decade team for the 2000's on Monday afternoon, the league office announced.
To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team;Â three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections, multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team;Â Player/Pitcher/Tourney MVP/Freshman/Defensive Player/Scholar-Athlete of the Year, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference selections.
Madruga had a stellar career with the Bears from 2005-08, earning three All-ASUN selections. She garnered first team nods in 2006 and 2008. A fierce competitor at the plate, Madruga still ranks sixth in ASUN history for career slugging percentage (0.692), as well as 12th in batting average (.378) and home runs (41). She is one of the most prolific hitters in Mercer history as well, holding program records in slugging percentage, on-base percentage (.459), total bases (403) and intentional walks (13). She also ranks second in program history in career doubles (48), third in batting average (.378) and home runs (41) and fourth in career hits (220), runs scored (135) and RBI (138).
During her senior season, Madruga and the Bears made a strong run through the ASUN Tournament, advancing to the semifinals as the 3-seed.
Rosentreter starred for the Bears in the circle from 2003-06 as a two-time First Team All-ASUN honoree in 2004 and 2006. The 2006 ASUN Pitcher of the Year remains eighth in conference history for career strikeouts with 722. She ranks first in Mercer history in career earned-run average (1.52) and opponent batting average (.206), while being second in wins (64), strikeouts (722), shutouts (19) and K/7 (7.36).
The Bears advanced to the quarterfinals of the ASUN Tournament in each of Rosentreter's first two seasons as the 5-seed, including a semifinals appearance during her freshman campaign in 2003. Mercer dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision to eventual champion, Florida Atlantic.
