Mercer defeats ETSU in straight sets
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.  – Four players registered only one attack error each in tonight's win over ETSU.Â
"Another gutsy win on the road," said Head Coach Dex Schroeder. "We have started to get healthy and put some very good practices together during the week that really showed in our offensive execution tonight."Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ Â

Set One (26-24)Â | There would be 18 tie scores in the first set. The Bears would receive their first few points from service errors but still trailed by one, 2-3. An ace from Rayanne de Oliveira would tie the game at three and a kill from Taylor Lynch would keep the game tied at four. Back-to-back kills from Annie Karle and de Oliveira would give the Bears a one-point lead, 7-6. ETSU would take the lead briefly before a 5-0 run from the Bears put them back on top by three, 12-9. The Bears and the Bucs traded points for the reminder of the set before a kill from Lynch tied the game at 23. The Bears would score the next three points which included another kill from Lynch and a final kill from Jaida Howell to end set one, 26-24.Â
Set Two (25-17)Â | A block from de Oliveira and Karle would start a 4-0 run from the Bears, giving them an early two-point lead, 4-2. ETSU would go on a run of four on their own before Mercer responded with a 7-1 run which included a kill and ace from de Oliveira, a kill from Lynch, and a kill and block(Howell) from Brittany Major, 11-7. Following a 3-0 run from the Bucs which put them within one, 12-11, blocks from Howell, Karle, de Oliveira, and Agnieska Paskevic would extend the Bears lead. A 4-0 run which started with a kill from Lynch and ended with an ace from Lexi Uhrhan would put the Bears up by seven, 22-15. Errors would give the Bears their next two points but a kill from Karle closed the set, 25-17.Â
Set Three (25-17)Â | The Bears would be the first on the board with a kill from Karle. Immediately after, a 3-0 run with a kill and ace from Karle and a kill from Major would put the Bears up by three, 4-1. Points would be traded before another 3-0 run from the Bears would put them on top by four, 11-6. This run included two back-to-back kills from Karle and an ace from Megan Smith. A 6-0 run filled with errors and a kill from de Oliveira extended the Bears lead to nine, 20-11. The final five points would be kills from Howell, Major, Karle, and two from de Oliveira, 25-17.Â
