Mercer Falls Short to MTSU in Mayan Championship

Mercer set to play in Macon next on Nov. 27.
CANCUN, Mexico. – The Bears lose the Mayan Division Cancun Challenge Championship Game against MTSU, in a 58-82 defeat.Â

Mercer (2-4) had three players score in double figures. Mercer was led by Jalen Johnson's 20 points. Felipe Haase had 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting while James Glisson III also added 10 points to round out the majority of the scoring for the Bears. The Orange & Black, with their many trips to the line shot 18-for-22 on the day with three players shooting 100% at the charity stripe. Coach Gary was proud of the run made in the second half and knows that the Bears will be back soon and will look to fight when they touch down in Macon. The Bears will head back home for its next game, with action beginning Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. at Hawkins Arena.

The Blue Raiders (5-1) shared the ball well and had six players in double digit scoring while three of those players shot 100% from the field. MTSU's Dishman recorded a 12 point-11 rebound double-double on the day as well. Middle Tennessee will go home with the win and head back to Tennessee to host Bryan College in Murfreesboro on Saturday.

The Bears will look forward to their next matchup against Milligan University at home in front of a supportive Hawkins' crowd.Â
