Women’s Tennis Hosts Georgia College and Troy This Weekend

The Bears are set for two matches at home this weekend
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team welcomes the Georgia College Bobcats and the Troy Trojans to the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center this weekend. The Bears will face Georgia College on Saturday and Troy on Sunday.

Scouting the Bobcats
Steve Barsby is in his 21st year as head coach for both men's and women's tennis at Georgia College, owning 301 career wins at GC in women's tennis. The Bobcats finished the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, winless in six tries, including matchups with three nationally-ranked opponents.
The Bobcats feature an experienced roster, with just one freshman. Junior Kim Yatribi returns after playing the top slot in singles last season. Also back after a year away from tennis is 2018 All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Second Team singles selection in junior Emilia Richter. Sophomore Emma Fleming also owns some all-conference hardware, as she teamed for a 2019 All-PBC Second Team honor in doubles.
 
Scouting the Trojans
The Trojans enter the matchup with the Bears with a 1-1 on the season. Troy's lone win for the season came against Alabama State and the loss coming against Alabama.
 
Playing in the No. 1 spot for the Trojans is Metea Mihaljevic. She is currently 2-3 overall this year and 0-2 in dual competitions. Anastasii Khokhlova is 1-3 overall during the 2020-21 season and this spring is 1-1 playing in the No. 2 spot for the Trojans.
 
The Trojans are currently 2-4 this spring in doubles. The duo of Anastasii Khokhlova and Andrea Widing are 1-1 overall this season playing in the No.1 spot for the Trojans. The No. 2 position belongs to Michelle Ncube and Kristina Kukara, where the pair is 0-2.
 
NEXT UP
Following the two matches this weekend, The bears are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 24 when they host Georgia Southern. The match will take place at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center and start at 1 p.m.
